About our bath repair in Woolton Hill
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for impact holes in acrylic and scuffs and scratches in the surface, across acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

When a repair is not the answer
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- A steel bath rusted through
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we repair
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
The process
On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know about parking or access
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Let us know if it has been repaired before

Advice
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
Common problems we fix in Woolton Hill
Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- A chip where the taps sit

Why repair rather than replace?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Usually it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
