Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Bath repair in Birches Green without replacing anything

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are frequently asked to fix an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and cracks in an acrylic bath, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Birches Green and across Birmingham.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Birmingham and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Common problems we fix in Birches Green

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A chipped rim or side

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • The type of damage

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Birches Green. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
