Bath repair near Bitteswell

Bath repair at your home in Bitteswell

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about holes from dropped items and a kit repair that didn’t last.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours, depending on the damage, including clearing up.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Bitteswell questions

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Do you come to Bitteswell?

We do. We send a technician to Bitteswell for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Bitteswell. The price comes down to:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Do you need bath repair in Bitteswell?

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

The things customers normally mention when they call are:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

Before you book anyone

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What preparation is included

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace in Bitteswell?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
