Bath repair in Bow, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Our repair technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about rust by the waste and overflow and holes from dropped items.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Should you replace it?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

The process

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Your questions about bath repair in Bow

Do you work in Bow?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Bow and the rest of Greater London. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

There is nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Bow

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
