Do you need bath repair in Old Ford?
Rust normally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Holes from dropped items
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
Questions to ask before you book
- Who turns up on the day
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How the colour is matched
- How long it needs to cure
Bath repair in Old Ford, done in place
We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are a kit repair that didn’t last and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.
Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

How it works
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Can I fix it myself?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

How to look after the repair
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- A steel bath rusted through
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
