Bath repair for Boxwell homes

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Bath repair in Boxwell without replacing anything

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are chips under the taps and a kit repair that didn’t last.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Boxwell questions

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Usually within a day, depending on the repair.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

When a repair is not the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why Boxwell clients choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Most jobs done in one visit

See our pricing or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The type of damage

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

What we’re called out for in Boxwell

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Common reasons people in Boxwell contact us are:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

How to compare quotes

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage in most cases. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
