Bath repair in Bridge Green

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

About our bath repair in Bridge Green

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the day after. Common call-outs are for scuffs and scratches in the surface and impact holes in acrylic, on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Do you need bath repair in Bridge Green?

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Damage beneath the taps

Choosing a repair company

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from photos

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Bridge Green questions

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Do you cover Bridge Green?

We do. We send a technician to Bridge Green for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Most baths can be used the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Repairing versus replacing in Bridge Green

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

When a repair isn’t the answer

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
