Bath repair in Bromley

About our bath repair in Bromley

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Common call-outs are for a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Open a window if you can

FAQs for Bromley

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we have done.

Do you cover Bromley?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Bromley. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Repairing versus replacing in Bromley

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

When to call us in Bromley

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • When it can be used again
  • How to look after the finish
