We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about chips under the taps and a kit repair that didn’t last.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

What we are called out for in Bryn

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

Bryn questions

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

When a repair is not the answer

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why Bryn customers choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Same prices wherever you are

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Bryn, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
