Landlord and trade work in Bull Hill

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Hampshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why Bull Hill clients choose us

When to call us in Bull Hill

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips under the taps
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Questions from Bull Hill

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
