When to call us in Burrough Green

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Damage beneath the taps

Before booking anyone

  • How soon you can use it again
  • How to look after the finish
  • How the colour is matched
  • What protection goes down before work starts

How to compare quotes

Bath repair in Burrough Green without replacing anything

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include deep scratches in acrylic and impact holes in acrylic, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Burrough Green. What changes the price is:

  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Burrough Green. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We will say straight away whether it can be repaired.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

There’s nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Burrough Green: your questions answered

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of Cambridgeshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Ensure the area is dry

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.
