Our bath repair service in CB8
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Typical jobs include hairline or through cracks in acrylic and scuffs and scratches in the surface, across cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What you’ll pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
What you get with us
- One-year guarantee on every repair
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
- Colour-matched on site
- Work done at your home or business
How to get a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away whether it can be repaired.
Around Newmarket
Our customers here include homes close to Newmarket College, Church of St Mary and The Mount Public House and the streets around them. Newmarket’s nearest station is Newmarket station, about 0.6 miles south-east of the centre. Well-known places in the area include The Guineas Shopping Centre (within half a mile east) and Cheveley Castle (2.8 miles south-east). The countryside around Newmarket includes Fordham Woods.
Work for landlords and builders
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.
What a repair can’t fix
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- A steel bath rusted through
Common problems we fix in CB8
Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Holes from dropped items
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
Common questions in CB8
How soon can you come?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
Will the price change on the day?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.
How long before I can use the bath?
Generally the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.
Will the repair last?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.
