Bath repair in Burstow without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. Common call-outs are for snagging damage from a refit and chips on the rim or sides, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

Your questions about bath repair in Burstow

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do you cover the entire of Surrey?

We work UK-wide, so Burstow is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath usually means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Do you need bath repair in Burstow?

Rust generally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

Choosing a repair company

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
