How we handle bath repair in Cabin

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Common call-outs are for impact holes in acrylic and a chipped rim or side, across roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips for most jobs. The room is left tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Make sure the area is dry

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Landlord and trade work in Cabin

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cabin as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

What affects the price in Cabin

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
