How we handle bath repair in Camblesforth

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people contact us are a chipped rim or side and rust spots around the plughole.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Why repair rather than replace?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking or access

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Camblesforth: your questions answered

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Typically, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Camblesforth. The price reflects:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:
