Bath repair for Cambridge homes

Honest limits

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

How we handle bath repair in Cambridge

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. Our technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are scratches you can feel with a fingernail and a chip where the taps sit.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Cambridge and across Gloucestershire.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cambridge questions

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Prices don’t change with location.

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we will tell you what to expect.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Do you need bath repair in Cambridge?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Chips caused by builders

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Aftercare advice
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Cambridge. What changes the price is:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Any details about the material
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Upload a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your GL2 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
