Signs you need bath repair in Carmel
Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.
Most people contact us when they notice something like this:
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Holes from dropped items
- Deep scratches in acrylic

About our bath repair in Carmel
We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. Common call-outs are for damage beneath the taps and a hole punched through by something heavy, across roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
Landlord and trade work in Carmel
Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
When we’d advise against a repair
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
What we work on
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.
Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.
The process
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
Ask for a price
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Carmel questions
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Is there a guarantee?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
Can you fix rust around the plughole?
Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.
Can you quote from pictures?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
How soon can you come?
We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Will the repair show?
On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
Repair or replace: which is better?
When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
