Bath repair for Childwall homes

Bath repair at your home in Childwall

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We regularly repair acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about chips along the edge of the bath and cracks in an acrylic bath.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • No need to remove anything

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear the area around the damage

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Your questions about bath repair in Childwall

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Childwall. What changes the price is:

  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Childwall, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What we’re called out for in Childwall

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Look out for these signs:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips on the rim or sides

Before booking anyone

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • When it can be used again
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
