Bath repair in Clodock without replacing anything

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Common call-outs are for a kit repair that didn’t last and deep scratches in acrylic, in pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Clodock, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, with your HR2 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Have new chips seen to early

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
