Bath repair for Compton Martin homes

About our bath repair in Compton Martin

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Whether it’s rusty patches near the plughole and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, we can help.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Questions from Compton Martin

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send photos.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

What affects the price in Compton Martin

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to compare quotes

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
