What we can’t put right
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Pressed steel enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- How much damage there is
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Access to the area
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send pictures for a quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:
- Any details about the material
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away if a repair is the right fix.
Questions from Corton Denham

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.
Do you cover the entire of Dorset?
The entire UK, including all of Dorset. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What your bath is made of matters
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Repair or replace in Corton Denham?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

The process
We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit

Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
