Bath repair in Coscote

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

How we handle bath repair in Coscote

We see every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. Each is repaired in place with a one-year guarantee. We’re often asked to fix impact holes in acrylic and deep scratches in acrylic, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips in most cases. The room is left tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

When we’d advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Coscote

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Oxfordshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
