Bath repair for Crimble homes

How we handle bath repair in Crimble

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the next day. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and holes from dropped items, across pressed steel enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Common questions in Crimble

Do you cover the whole of Rochdale?

We work UK-wide. Prices do not change with location.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you work in Crimble?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Crimble for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Crimble. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Common problems we fix in Crimble

Rust generally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

People normally call us after spotting something like this:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

What your quote should include

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who will actually do the work
  • How the colour is matched

10 questions to ask before booking

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Rochdale and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash

If you’re in Crimble and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What a repair can’t fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
