Bath repair for Crook Log homes

About our bath repair in Crook Log

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can typically bathe again the next day. You won’t need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. If you’re dealing with rust by the waste and overflow and snagging damage from a refit, we can normally put it right, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding alike.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

When we’d advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Questions from Crook Log

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Do you come to Crook Log?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Crook Log from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Have new chips seen to early

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Crook Log. What changes the price is:

  • The type of damage
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the whole bath

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Crook Log, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Signs you need bath repair in Crook Log

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Rust spots around the plughole

Comparing quotes

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How soon you can use it again

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Crook Log as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Repair or replace in Crook Log?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
