Bath repair in Welling without replacing anything

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. Common call-outs are for cracks in an acrylic bath and rusty patches near the plughole, in whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Welling and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Phone pictures are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Common problems we fix in Welling

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips caused by builders

What your quote should include

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Who will actually do the work

How to compare quotes

Welling questions

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Normally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your DA16 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
