Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, usually in a single visit. Whether it’s rusty patches near the plughole and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, we can normally put it right, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel alike.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Crown and across Highland.

Should you replace it?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

When to call us in Crown

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

Choosing a repair company

Landlords, agents and businesses in Crown

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What a repair cannot fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Crown: your questions answered

Will I be able to see the repair?

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the day after. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.
