Bath repair at your home in Easton

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can generally use the bath the next day. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a cracked acrylic bath and rust by the waste and overflow.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Natural light rather than flash

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Easton questions

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

Should you replace it?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
