Bath repair in Eckington

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

About our bath repair in Eckington

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site. If you’re dealing with a chip where the taps sit and rust by the waste and overflow, we can typically put it right, on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Common questions in Eckington

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What does bath repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your WR10 postcode.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Repair or replace: which is better?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips, including clearing up.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Landlords, agents and businesses in Eckington

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

When to call us in Eckington

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Questions to ask before you book

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How the colour is matched
