Bath repair in Mill End without replacing anything
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. If you’re dealing with deep scratches in acrylic and holes from dropped items, we can normally put it right.
Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

How the visit works
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours, depending on the damage, including clearing up.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Related advice
When we’d advise against a repair
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
What we work on
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
Repair or replace: which is better?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Usually it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.
Why Mill End clients choose us
- CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
- Same prices wherever you are
- A year’s guarantee on all work

Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
How to care for the repair
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
When to call us in Mill End
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.
People normally call us after spotting something like this:
- Damage beneath the taps
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Chips along the edge of the bath
What to look for in a quote
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- Aftercare advice
- When it can be used again
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
