Need bath repair in Eggbuckland?

Do you need bath repair in Eggbuckland?

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Look out for these signs:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Damage beneath the taps

Questions to ask before you book

Bath repair at your home in Eggbuckland

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We’re often asked to fix chips along the edge of the bath and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Eggbuckland use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. You can expect it to take a few hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the day after.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Eggbuckland. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your PL6 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Repairing versus replacing in Eggbuckland

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why us?

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Typically one visit, start to finish

Your questions about bath repair in Eggbuckland

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Do you come to Eggbuckland?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Eggbuckland and the rest of Plymouth. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.
