How we handle bath repair in Keyham
Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Our technicians work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people get in touch are chips along the edge of the bath and chips under the taps.
You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
Questions from Keyham
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Often, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Is a bath repair permanent?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.
Do you cover the whole of Plymouth?
Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What we do, step by step
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the day after.
Before we arrive
- Open a window if you can
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Make sure the area is dry

Signs you need bath repair in Keyham
The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
You may need us if you’ve spotted:
- Damage beneath the taps
- Snagging damage from a refit
- A chipped rim or side
- A cracked acrylic bath
Comparing quotes

- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Aftercare tips
Looking after the surface is easy:
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.
What we cannot put right
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
