Bath repair in Egton

What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

Bath repair in Egton, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Whether it’s a chipped rim or side and deep scratches in acrylic, we can help.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

What affects the price in Egton

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Egton. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire bath

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Egton: your questions answered

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually within a day, depending on the repair.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you come to Egton?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Egton for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Why us?

What we’re called out for in Egton

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Rust spots around the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • How to look after the finish
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • If travel is included in the price

How to compare quotes

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, tidy-up included.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Open a window if you can

Ask for a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
