How we handle bath repair in Escrick

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. We’re often asked to fix chips under the taps and chips on the rim or sides, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It typically takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Repair or replace in Escrick?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For a price in Escrick, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What we’re called out for in Escrick

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Deep scratches in acrylic

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
