Bath repair in Falmer

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material

For a price in Falmer, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Bath repair in Falmer, done in place

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Typical jobs include scuffs and scratches in the surface and a chipped rim or side, in roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Usually it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Falmer. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why us?

  • We leave the room as we found it

Falmer: your questions answered

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Are there extra charges for Falmer?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage for most jobs. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

If you manage property in Falmer, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
