Bath repair at your home in Hove

We have repaired just about every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. All of it is repaired where the bath stands. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people get in touch are snagging damage from a refit and damage beneath the taps.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Signs you need bath repair in Hove

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A cracked acrylic bath

10 questions to ask before you book

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Brighton and Hove and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

What we do, step by step

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
