Bath repair for Finstock homes

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Bath repair in Finstock, done in place

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We are frequently asked to fix scuffs and scratches in the surface and chips along the edge of the bath, in cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Finstock and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When to call us in Finstock

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

10 questions to ask before booking

What affects the price in Finstock

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The type of damage
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Most jobs done in one visit

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
