Bath repair in Fishergate without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Common call-outs are for a chip where the taps sit and a cracked acrylic bath, on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Repairing versus replacing in Fishergate

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

What a repair can’t fix

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Fishergate

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Holes from dropped items
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A chip where the taps sit

Questions to ask before you book

  • Who turns up on the day
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
