Bath repair at your home in Fowey

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the following day. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are impact holes in acrylic and chips under the taps.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What we cannot put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
