Bath repair in Sandy Bottom without replacing anything
Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, typically in a single visit. If you’re dealing with hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, we can help, on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel alike.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- What kind of damage it is
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How hard the colour is to match
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Quotes from your photos
Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A photo taken from further back
- The material, if you know it
- Something in shot to show the size
Most clients in Sandy Bottom get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
DIY kit or professional repair?
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
Questions from Sandy Bottom
Will the repair show?
We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Typically. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
Is a bath repair durable?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.
How soon can you come?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.
How to care for the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Store metal items away from the bath
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.
The process
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Let us know about parking or access
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
Getting a price
Email us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Sandy Bottom, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Advice
Should you replace it?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Sandy Bottom. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

When a repair isn’t the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Do you need bath repair in Sandy Bottom?
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- A chipped rim or side
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Chips caused by builders
- Deep scratches in acrylic
Before you book anyone
- How the room is protected while they work
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
