About our bath repair in Furnace

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about hairline or through cracks in acrylic and chips along the edge of the bath.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Common questions in Furnace

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

How long before I can use the bath?

Typically within a day, though it depends on what we have done.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Furnace

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Furnace use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

If you manage property in Furnace, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Have new chips seen to early

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
