Bath repair in Gendros

Common questions in Gendros

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Usually, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Bath repair in Gendros without replacing anything

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Whether it’s chips caused by builders and damage beneath the taps, we can normally put it right, on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Gendros as everywhere else we work.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your SA5 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Gendros. The price reflects:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

Landlord and trade work in Gendros

For anyone letting property in or around Gendros, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
