Repair or replace in Glenside?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Glenside. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What a repair cannot fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Common problems we fix in Glenside

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether the price covers travel

Choosing a repair company

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Glenside. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

Send photos for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

If you’re in Glenside and want a price, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take two to three hours for most chips, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
