Bath repair in Glyncaled

About our bath repair in Glyncaled

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can generally use the bath the day after. We’re frequently asked to fix rust spots around the plughole and cracks in an acrylic bath, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

What we are called out for in Glyncaled

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Damage beneath the taps

10 questions to ask before booking

Landlord and trade work in Glyncaled

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Everything repaired in place
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Read our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
