Questions from Grandpont

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

10 questions to ask before you book

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Repairing versus replacing in Grandpont

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

How the visit works

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
