How bath repair works in OX1
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We are frequently asked to fix impact holes in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, across whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel.
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Repair or replace?
A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.
What your quote should include
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- Aftercare advice
- How soon you can use it again
- How your room will be protected
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
For landlords and businesses
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
What we’re called out for in OX1
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Holes from dropped items
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
- Damage beneath the taps
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Common questions in OX1
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
Does someone need to be in?
We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
What areas do you cover?
The entire UK, including all of Oxfordshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Can you quote from pictures?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
