Bath repair in Grasscroft without replacing anything

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. We work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about scuffs and scratches in the surface and a chip where the taps sit.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Grasscroft. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Signs you need bath repair in Grasscroft

Baths take more knocks than people expect: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

The things clients usually mention when they call are:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips under the taps

Questions to ask before you book

  • When it can be used again
  • Who turns up on the day
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What happens if they find more damage

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Do you work in Grasscroft?

How much does bath repair cost in Grasscroft?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

When can I have a bath again?

Typically within a day, depending on the repair.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Grasscroft use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Oldham and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
