Trusted bath repair in Great Whittington

Bath repair in Great Whittington, done in place

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and people most often call us about chips along the edge of the bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Great Whittington and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Landlord and trade work in Great Whittington

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Great Whittington as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What we’re called out for in Great Whittington

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Common reasons people in Great Whittington contact us are:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Our hiring checklist

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Advice

Questions from Great Whittington

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Normally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Great Whittington?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item and your postcode.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Northumberland.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Great Whittington. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
