How we handle bath repair in Greatness
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can generally use the bath the following day. Whether it’s impact holes in acrylic and rusty patches near the plughole, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When to call us in Greatness
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- Damage beneath the taps
What to look for in a quote
- How changes to the job are handled
- Aftercare advice
- Whether the price covers travel
- How your room will be protected

How the visit works
Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear the area around the damage
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

What we cannot put right
We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Materials we work on in Greatness
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
How to care for the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Repairing versus replacing in Greatness
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Is my repair covered?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Does someone need to be in?
