Trusted bath repair in Seal

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How we handle bath repair in Seal

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the day after. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. If you are dealing with chips under the taps and rust spots around the plughole, we can help, on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and acrylic alike.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Seal and across Kent.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which usually takes two to three hours for most chips. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Your questions about bath repair in Seal

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How much does bath repair cost in Seal?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

How long before I can use the bath?

Generally the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Do you cover the whole of Kent?

Everywhere in the UK, Seal included. Travel is included in the price.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What we’re called out for in Seal

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips under the taps
  • A chipped rim or side

Before booking anyone

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How the colour is matched
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

When a repair is not the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Seal as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.
