About our bath repair in Greenhow
Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles aren’t touched, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Common call-outs are for a kit repair that didn’t last and deep scratches in acrylic, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Questions from Greenhow
Are there extra charges for Greenhow?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Can landlords book you?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Is a bath repair durable?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
When we would advise against a repair
Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Whirlpool & spa baths
Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.
Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.
Repairing versus replacing in Greenhow
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
What we do, step by step
We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take two to three hours for most chips, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
Get a quote
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
